The Sins of Spirit Lane is a Webtoon created by Minnie Czekansky, Fiona McCoury, Olivia Richardson, and Kara Smith. Everyone had their own roles in the process, but all of us were involved in the story and character creation, as well as all of the research. We wanted to create a project to combine our shared loves of comics, art, and storytelling.
Before her senior year of college, Mia Muñoz must find a breakout story that will help her earn a job at a huge newspaper in her city. Because of the cheap rent and a lack of other ideas, Mia decides to visit her grandmother’s hometown, a small seaside town on the East Coast. To pay for the rent for the summer, Mia also invites her roommate, Robin McClain. As Robin and Mia begin to explore their home for the summer, they begin to notice strange occurrences in the town--people appearing and disappearing, objects moving on their own, and footprints appearing from nowhere. Before long, the pair discover one of the many secrets of the town: It is home to a variety of ghosts! As the summer goes on, Mia and Robin help ghosts with their troubles while Mia uses their stories as inspiration for her story. However, sinister disappearances and connections between the ghosts leave Mia wondering about the other mysteries of the town.
Each of the team members had their own specific role in the creation process and we would all work together to create a larger outcome.
